Waxed Bomber Jacket
Speed 8 Traveller - Burnt Earth
Availability: In stock
Brand: John Partridge & Co
Mens waxed bomber jacket, developed as a classic shooting jacket. Taken from our mens country clothing range this wax jacket is equally at home in the town as it is in the country.
This stylish shooting jacket comes in two forms- Traveller and Ventura.
Ventura suits a more traditional feel- being longer is better at keeping your bum dry when walking through long grass.
Traveller is shorter than the Ventura in the body- important if you are shooting across a wide angle- the shorter the body gives you more of a swivel.
Today the Speed 8 is slightly slimmer with a more streamlined fit and feel than its older counterpart.
Like all waxed cotton it is both breathable and water resistant. We also occasionally have tweed options available- if not on the website just drop us an email or call.
Sizes M - 2XL
Two way front zip
Half adjusters across the back
Two outside pockets with matte brass studs
Two hand warmers
Stand up collar lined with cord
The action back creates an extra six inches of movement across your shoulders. The lower pockets are studded bellows (they expand out as you fill them). Even though it was designed especially for shooting, the Speed 8 is ideal for town and country wear. Because it is easy to live with design it is a great all-rounder. Made in our own Staffordshire factory.
The outer fabric is either a heavy weight or medium weight waxed cotton fabric made in Britain. Pure cotton treated with natural waxes, to give a rich and deep finish in both plain and camouflage colours. This fabric is strong and very water resistant. It keeps its look and requires only an occasional treatment with a light spray wax. The inner fabric is cotton with JP Check.
Internally there is a single wallet pocket which is closed with our special Partridge enamel stud. An adjustable throat tab at the neck comes in two depths, depending on what type of protection and movement you need, and a full length, two way zip- this allows the wearer to keep the jacket on whilst driving and releasing the zip from either top or bottom.
Inside the jacket we show our classic flying birds back neck label, our short history label, our makers label and our wax cotton fabric label.
Little known fact- This design was developed for and made for a very special Royal personage. When you see a rather smart tweed shooting coat you may recognise its origins.
