Waxed Jackets

Cleaning
To clean, firstly brush off any excess dirt with a soft brush, then wipe down with a cold damp cloth. Leave to dry naturally, never force dry.
Do not put in the washing machine or use any cleaning agents as this will damage the wax coating. Do not expose to direct sunlight for a long period of time.

Re-waxing/reproofing
To increase the longevity of your waxed jacket we recommend re-waxing it once a year. Re-waxing also revives the colour, giving your waxed jacket a new life! See our step by step guide below on how to clean and re-wax your jacket at home.
Step 1: Clean the jacket by brushing off any excess dirt then wipe down with a cold damp cloth. Use cold, clean water only; cleaning agents and hot water will damage the wax coating permanently so it is best to avoid using these
Step 2: Soften the wax by standing the tin in a container of hot water. When the wax melts to a liquid consistency it is ready to use. Leave the wax standing in the hot water whilst working on your jacket
Step 3: Using a clean sponge or a damp cloth, work the melted wax into the fabric using a circular motion. Focus on seams and creases as the wax will have worn away more in these areas. Avoid getting wax on the corduroy trim, lining and inside of the pockets
Step 4: To ensure the wax is evenly spread, use a hairdryer to blow medium heat over the jacket. This will give a nice smooth finish!
Step 5: Hang the jacket up and allow to dry overnight in a dry place. Keep away from surfaces and other fabrics to avoid any wax transfer.

Storing Your Waxed Jacket
It is best to hang your wax jacket on a coat hanger as folding can cause creases in the wax; over time creases will weaken the wax coating and a loss of colour may occur. We suggest hanging it away from other clothing and fabrics as wax is easily transferred. Wax jackets are also susceptible to damp and mildew so we recommend hanging your jacket in a well ventilated area. If wet, leave your jacket to dry naturally away from heat.
